abbreviation for Original Equipment Manufacturer and refers to the company
which manufactured the printer, photocopier or fax machine, such as Canon,
H-P, Sharp, Lexmark, Brother, Epson, etc. These manufacturers also supply
replacement ink or toner cartridges and normally will put their name on these
products, though their cartridges may in fact be manufactured by a
sub-contractor. NWIT sell a full range of OEM cartridges at very competitive
prices. What is a compatible cartridge? Compatible
cartridges are usually referred to as being 100% new and have been designed
to be interchangeable with an OEM cartridge. A compatible cartridge is an
exact copy of the original manufacturer’s cartridge only it’s made by someone
else and because of that it is offered to you at a reduced price. Compatible
cartridges are just as good as their genuine counterparts and in some cases
even hold double to triple the ink. What are Remanufactured Cartridges? Remanufactured
cartridges are OEM cartridges that have been put back through a manufacturing
process. As a part of this process the cartridges are produced to either meet
or exceed the original product. The process involves the cartridge being
disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, worn parts being replaced, toner or ink
being replenished, reassembled then fully tested and packed ready for resale.
All cartridges supplied by us will always meet or exceed the original
cartridge. What is a premium remanufactured toner cartridge? To best
explain it’s a laser toner cartridge which has been refilled however the
process is far more complex then refilling an inkjet cartridge. Using the
original shell all of the moving parts and old toner are removed and replaced
with brand new parts and of course a full cartridge of toner. By using
remanufactured toner cartridges you will be helping the environment while recycling
is important the emphasis should be placed on reusing items, remanufactured
toners do exactly that, take a cartridge which has been used, replace the
moving parts while still using the original shell. Will Compatible or Remanufactured products void my Printer Warranty? No! The
Australian Consumers' Association Choice Magazine has undertaken a survey
into the use of compatible cartridges and spoke to Epson, Hewlett-Packard,
Canon and Lexmark. They were informed by all companies that the 'printer warranty
would NOT be affected by the use of compatibles or refilled cartridges'. In
fact in Australia it is illegal under the Trade Practices Act for a printer
manufacturer to require a consumer to use a particular brand of ink or
cartridge. The brand of cartridge, ink or paper you purchase is your
decision. Do you accept company purchase orders? Yes, we
accept Purchase Orders via fax, email, phone or post from Australian
registered companies, schools, colleges or Government departments. You will
need to have opened an account with us first. Please email info@nwit.net.au

them? These
cartridges can be recycled, Cartridge Rescue
has a fantastic collection box service where a box is delivered and
collected when full from your nominated address, and this service is
completely free. You may order your box or find out more through our
recycling page. Planet Ark is another alternative if you do not have room to
store the collection box in your home or office. Planet Ark has bins at
various locations where you can recycle your cartridge free of charge, or
simply take them back to where you purchased them and ask them to recycle it
for you. Please do not put these in your regular home garbage or recycle bins
as they will not be recycled they will end up in our landfills and they don’t
break down. The pictures/text I’m printing isn’t coming out the best, there are
lines or bits missing, what should I do? First of all
make sure your cartridge has ink in it. With some cartridges you have 3 colours inside the 1 cartridge if you
find that 1 colour is missing it could be that
that colour has run out and needs to be
replaced. Second of all
your printer has some maintenance options which can clean your print heads.
Print heads are either attached to your cartridge or inside your printer and
ink can settle on these, dry up and stop you from printing, do a print head
clean but never do more than 3 in a row. If your problem still persists
contact your printer manufacturer. I’m thinking about buying a new printer, but I’m not sure what to buy? Buying a new
printer can be a hard decision with so many brands and models out there you
need to know what you’re getting. Below is a list of question you should ask
yourself or your sales representative before purchasing a new printer. NWIT
is here to help with any enquiries that you may have, we offer print cost
analysis on printers and can also give you real numbers for what your printer
will cost you after market and ongoing cost. But first answer these questions ·
What will the printer be mainly
used for? E.g. School projects, picture printing, plain black printing ·
How much printing will you be
doing? E.g.10 pages per month, 20 pages per month, 40+ pages per month or
over 100. ·
What do I need my printer to do?
E.g. Print black and/or colour, print
quality photos, scan documents, black and/or colour copying, fax machine. ·
How much money are you prepared to
spend? Printers start from around $50 for your basic printer and can go into
the thousands. ·
How much will the ink cartridges
cost to replace and how much printing will I get out of them? This is an EXTREMELY
important question; all too often people end up spending the same amount on a
new set of cartridges as the printer cost, find out and be sure before you
buy. ·
Consider how much space you have
to put the printer, some multi-functions can take up a lot of space. ·
Most importantly don’t get drawn
in by what seems like a bargain, do your homework and ask questions. You can
e-mail us at any time info@nwit.net.au for advice on what’s new and out there
or visit our printer’s page. I recently bought a new printer, what can I do with my old one? Most major

manufacturer won’t do this, they can go with your garbage or have you
considered selling it? You may not get a lot of money but someone’s trash is
another person’s treasure. I need help with getting my
printer working. We are always
